The first book in a cozy mystery series features four residents of a high-end British retirement village who gather together every Thursday and attempt to solve cold cases culled from the files of a now-comatose former police officer, a friend of the club's founder Elizabeth. Elizabeth has a background in intelligence that gives her access to many valuable contacts, and each of the other three club members have their own talents: Joyce, a former nurse; Ibrahim Arif, a psychiatrist; and Ron Ritchie, a well-known political firebrand. This first installment of the series finds the group confronted with their first live case when an unscrupulous property developer with plans to turn the chapel and graveyard at the retirement village into more units winds up dead.
